Glaucoma is a chronic and progressive disease that damages the optic nerve. The most common type occurs when fluid builds up in the front part of your eye and increases the eye's internal pressure ultimately damaging the optic nerve. Our doctors will routinely check your eye pressure and order more tests if they are concerned. Early detection and management of glaucoma is critical to reduce the risk of damage.

The most common treatment for glaucoma is to reduce eye pressure and that can be achieved by:
- eye drop medications
- laser treatment
- surgery
What are the most common symptoms for glaucoma?
With the most common type of glaucoma, there are no warning signs or obvious symptoms in the early stages. As the disease progresses, blind spots can develop in your peripheral (side) vision.
